Some two years ago Rayleigh Evangelical Church, situated close to the centre of this busy Essex town, closed due to falling numbers. Since then, a dozen or so, believing the Lord has a future for these well-equipped premises, have met to pray and hold fortnightly services. With the support of our parent body, The Union of Evangelical Churches, we are looking to appoint a suitably-qualified and/or experienced married couple to be instrumental in expanding the ministry of this small Bible-believing community.

The appointment would suit a young couple fresh from Bible College training, who are looking to gain practical experience in Church work. It would also offer a couple with appropriate experience but no formal training a means to test a calling to full-time Christian service. The appointment would begin in September/October 2017.

If you are interested, please write to the Administrator no later than 20 July 2017, telling us about yourselves and your current situation and what you would bring to the post. Please include your postal address, email address and best phone number.

All expressions of interest will be acknowledged. We will use a two-stage vetting and appointing process. Based on the written submissions, we will issue expenses-paid invitations to meet some of the team, view the church premises and discuss opportunities. A formal interview before a Selection Panel will be offered to those who are best suited to meet the present needs to develop mission and outreach strategies to the local community.

Please write to Howard Gardner, UEC Administrator, 36 Eastwood Road, Rayleigh, Essex SS6 7JQ or email him at

The Church belongs to the Union of Evangelical Churches, which will continue to give support both financial and pastorally through a Moderator. More information is available at
