17 March 2020, 7.30pm-9pm
Christ the King Church, Deeble Road, Kettering

Hope UK, the National Drug Education Charity, based in Kettering, is pleased to announce that its upcoming Parents, Let’s Talk About… Drugs event is now free to attend.

Drugs are a big problem across the UK at the moment, and Kettering is particularly affected by County Lines, the ‘running’ of drugs from bigger cities to local dealers in smaller towns and rural areas. Kettering currently has 15 County Lines coming into the town (Northampton has 16). Dealers target young people to ‘run’ the drugs, as they go relatively undetected by the Police. The dealers also target vulnerable adults to house the drugs; this is known as ‘cuckooing’. Estimates suggest that there are now 50,000 young people involved with gangs, across the UK.

This evening is designed to get you thinking about how you can address the issue of drugs in the lives of your children, and equip you to:

  • Identify drug-using behaviour in you children.
  • Speak to your children about drugs (or anything else for that matter; the skills are transferrable).
  • Equip their children to make drug-free choices.
